that the BSF of the last 3 generations is the starting point for a progeny's ability and that the Random Slide then

If there is a GrandParent that raced prior to
Year 44, the BSF may not reflect actual horse talent. The BSFs changed
around Y44. For example, Look Closer (NY) won the Y30 Steward's Cup Sprint with a 78 Speed Figure. If you think the BSF
of the GrandParent does not accurately reflect the horse's talent, you can
eliminate the GrandParents or adjust the BSF
